SAFEGUARDING

Hawkedon Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, visitors and volunteers to share this commitment. The school has a culture of openness and all adults are actively encouraged to speak up if they have any concerns regarding safeguarding.  The school has robust procedures in place to ensure that all children are safe and cared for. 

The school has a safeguarding team and a safeguarding Governor to ensure that all aspects of child safety are regularly reviewed.  These aspects include:-

• Teaching children to be safe – online safety, taking care of each other and signs of abuse
• Risk assessments for activities on/off site
• Child protection
• Health and safety in and around the school
• Site security

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about pupils are discussed with parents and carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
