ART
Our curriculum is designed so that the children will make strong progress in art and design.
Through carefully planned, sequential units of work and lessons, pupils will be able to develop skills in drawing, painting, printing, textiles and sculpture. We believe that high-quality art lessons will inspire children to think innovatively and develop creativity, independence, judgement, critical thinking and self-reflection. Children will be introduced to a range of works through a variety of artists and designers through history.
Oracy is a key aspect of classroom practice which provides pupils with opportunities to deepen their vocabulary and understanding: through dialogue with teachers and peers. Understanding of the visual elements of art and design (line, tone, texture, colour, pattern, shape, sculpture) will be developed through an accessible and engaging curriculum. Children will have the opportunity to experiment and develop skills with a variety of media such as paint products, pencils, charcoal, textiles and clay.
