OUR VALUES

Belong, Be Kind, Achieve

At Hawkedon, we are committed to placing our children at the heart of all we do by providing an exceptional education in an environment that fosters success, mutual respect, and acceptance. Our goal is to encourage and empower them to aspire to great things and seize opportunities to be the best they can be, equipping them to adapt to an ever-changing world. By nurturing kindness and encouraging everyone to achieve their very best, we embrace a diverse and caring community where everyone flourishes.

We believe our values teach our children to become thoughtful and considerate young people and it provides the children with a set of principles that guide their thinking and behaviour. Our Hawkedon values underpin our ethos, curriculum and attitudes to learning. All members of our school community model our values, which creates a strong positive learning environment that enhances academic achievement as well as enabling pupils to become caring, responsible citizens of the world community.

Belong:

Belonging is a feeling of being accepted, valued, and connected within our school community. Belonging strengthens our secure and supportive atmosphere where we can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Diversity: At Hawkedon, we celebrate what makes each of us unique. We embrace our different backgrounds, cultures and ideas, making sure everyone feels respected, included, and has the chance to grow.
  • Community: This is a school where we all work together, help each other, and care about one another. It's where we all share, support, and make everyone feel like they belong.
  • Friendship: At our school, we value friendship as an essential part of our happiness and learning. We understand that friends support each other and create a caring and positive environment where everyone feels connected.

By celebrating our diversity, building a strong community and enjoying our friendships, we feel we belong in the Hawkedon community.

Be kind:

At Hawkedon, kindness is about working together, being patient, and respecting each other. These values help create a friendly and caring school community.

Kindness means being helpful and caring without necessarily expecting anything in return. We can show kindness by listening, helping, and being thoughtful. Other values add to our sense of kindness at school. These are:

  • Cooperation: Hawkedon is a school where we work together to reach a goal, sharing ideas and tasks.
  • Patience: At Hawkedon, patience is being calm and understanding, especially when things take time or others need help.
  • Respect: At this school we treat everyone with kindness, accepting differences, and listening to others.

When we practice kindness, cooperation, patience, and respect, we make Hawkedon a place where everyone feels valued and supported, and where we can all achieve together.

Achieve:

At Hawkedon Primary School, achievement means always trying your best and working hard to be the best you can be. It’s about not only doing well on your own but also helping everyone at school succeed together.

  • Resilience: We believe that resilience means not giving up when things are hard. We know that when we face challenges, it's just a chance to learn and get better.
  • Courage: Courage at Hawkedon means being brave enough to try your best, even when things seem tricky. It helps us believe in ourselves and keep moving forward, even when we’re unsure.
  • Aspiration: At Hawkedon, aspiration means aiming high and always trying to be the best we can be. We believe in ourselves and in each other, and we support each other to reach our dreams.

Together, resilience, courage, and aspiration help us achieve our goals at Hawkedon. They guide us to work hard, keep going, and be the best we can be.
